4 REAL Sports is proud to announce our Team of the Month winners for the Halloween Hoops Basketball Tournament for their participation in the Competition with Civility Citizenship project. We were very excited and pleasantly surprised to see the activities teams had planned to get involved in this project. We thank all of you greatly for participating!

This was a two-fold project; one to “treat” another team in their division and secondly to participate in the knock-out games for donations to Make a Wish Foundation in honor of Dominic Palacio who recently died of cancer.

Our first ever Team of the Month winner is:

Power  Group in our 5th/6th boys division

Power Group went above and beyond to honor Dominic by donating $100 to the Make a Wish Foundation in the name of the Northland Vikings as well as giving a framed picture signed by players in the tournament to Team Dominic and to Dominic’s family. The team also helped organize the Knock-out game for donations and created the posters for the event. They really took hold of the opportunity to get the team involved in this citizenship project. A big thanks to Power Group’s coaches, team parents, Katie & Amy and, all the players!

Natalie — Thank you so much for the wonderful award and recognition.  It was a great weekend for our kids and families, both basketball-wise and being involved in all of the off-court activities.  We will always support your events because you run them the right way and for the right reasons.  We are privileged and honored to be the first Team of the Month recipient in your Competition with Civility Citizenship campaign.  It means a lot to me individually and to our organization as a whole.  We are much prouder of this accomplishment than any success we may enjoy on the court.  Take care and keep up the good work.

Honorable Mentions

KC Force – HS Girls: The team made custom labels for water bottles with the Team “Lady Deuces” name on them and made Halloween Pumpkins with blow pops attached for everyone in the HS division!

KS Cagers – 8th Boys: The team gave Halloween cupcakes to the players on the Power Group 8th grade team.

Stingerz – 8th Girls: The team offered another team their choice of bench seating and to show good sportsmanship they worked hard to help the other team up when on the ground and were positive and encouraging to the referees, teammates and opposing team.

Lady Deuces – HS Girls: Filled 16 bags of Halloween themed candy and treated the Greyhounds to this Survival/Good Luck Goody Bag with this poem:

Best of Luck from the Lady Deuces

Alright Ladies it’s “Crunch” time,

Here are a few tips that may help be a “Lifesaver” for the tournament!

Keep your “Eye” on the Ball.

Don’t “Snicker” at the Ref’s bad calls.

Take the game serious; don’t act like a “Dum-Dum”

Be a “Sweettart” to your teammates.

Hang on to the ball and don’t be a “Butterfinger”

Help out all the “Nerds” on the court.

Be a “Smartie” on Defense

Play extra hard and be a “Starburst” on Offense.

Have a great time at this tournament! “Laffy Taffy” lots
and be sure and show’em all your “Twix”!!

Hugs & Kisses
